Melton’s gain is our loss
A double decker coach load of Buckingham folk journeyed up to Melton Mowbray last night to watch Rev Kevin Ashby’s Induction and Institution as Team Rector by the Bishop of Leicester.
It was a real credit to Kevin’s ministry, and personality that so many of us made such an effort to be there for him. I couldn’t help thinking we need more people like him to inspire such a feeling of wanting to belong, and be part of whatever he is part of. The more people I meet with vocations, the more God seems to be doing this. It feels like a bit of a revolution, and such an exciting one to be part of.
Last night was a perfect mix of a traditional service with uplifting parts. It was the sort of service that no one could have left and not been touched by. Of course Kevin’s humour came to the fore (you couldn’t really keep it down!)
I was so fortunate to have met Kevin when I did, because I had known him for the shortest time on that coach, but he has made a huge impact on my journey into the ministry. Thankfully Melton seemed to realise that they have bagged a real gem there.
Melton’s gain is certainly our loss.
God Bless you and your lovely family Kevin.
